The context

The private Champeau clinic initiated environmental renovations initiated in 1996. That made it one of only two ecological clinics in France. With an eye to its overall approach to health, both preventive and curative, the clinic decided to entrust the emblematic renovation of its maternity ward to an artist. 

The commission

Renovation of a maternity ward reception area

The decoration of the walls, light fixtures, the new reception desk and the signage system have been primarly designed around Agatha Ruiz de la Prada's trademark of white clouds on a blue background, accompanied by furniture in the form of moons and stars. On the floor, a huge red heart on a blue background gave the project its title Je vous aime, a message of welcome to life, but also of hope and comfort for those leaving. 

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada was born in Madrid in 1960. She lives and works in Paris and in Madrid. She presented her first fashion collection in 1981 and soon opened a shop in Madrid, and, later, in Paris, Milan and New York. She also designs stationary, furniture and perfume, to name just a few. She has collaborated on a number of artistic projects (exhibitions, illustrations, ephemeral creations), and has begun an exhibition programme of Spanish artists, called Agatha+. Democratic distribution practices have always been at the heart of her philosophy.
