Daum's cauldron

The context
The "tradition of secrecy" in the company, both as a value (the trade secret), but also as an obstacle to internal communication, on the one hand, and the mystery of the Chinese shadow (the other tradition and current industrial competition), on the other hand, are the elements of meaning that the clients offered to the artist's unique perception.
The commission
Alchemy (the cauldron filled with coloured glass nuggets serving as basic materials from which steam escapes), the Chinese ideogram meaning "together", the "custom" universe of the flamed background, these are the images and elements of language that Sylvie Fleury brings together in this dramatically organized sculpture. Initially presented temporarily in the impressive showcase room of the Daum glass collection, in the basement of the Nancy Museum of Fine Arts, this autonomous work has no fixed attachment point.
Sylvie Fleury
Sylvie Fleury, born in 1961 in Geneva, is an artist with multiple resources and a particularly strong talent. Her works are generally based on the exhibition of objects that are a priori invested in society with a strong aesthetic value and a sentimental or fantastical attachment. From the worlds of men and women, cars, rockets, heels shoes, make-up products or shopping bags in the colours of major brands, many objects are formally reinvested in avant-garde art creations. Her career is very strongly international but her world is a mosaic of proximity.
